The sequel to The Belles, unfortunately it didn’t quite hit all the notes I wanted it to – but they still make a wonderful duology.

Enchantée – Gita Trelease

A YA fantasy set in the tense times before the French Revolution, using the backdrop of social unsettlement to enhance the stakes for this story.

The Priory of the Orange Tree – Samantha Shannon

This is a huge epic novel pitting East against West, with political tensions, betrayals and also some wlw romance.

Gentleman Sinner – Jodi Ellen Malpas

This is my first ever DNF on this site, but guys I just couldn’t. I really couldn’t.

Girls of Paper and Fire – Natasha Ngan

One of the most-hyped books I saw last year, this is a hard-hitting fantasy which doesn’t shy away from triggering material such as sexual assault.

Ella Enchanted – Gail Carson Levine

I took some time to re-read an old favourite, and it made me happy.
