Editorial

I currently am an editor at Gollancz, a science fiction, fantasy and horror publisher, and also do some work with our sister imprint Orion Fiction with historical and crime fiction. Prior to that, I worked as a Junior Editor for Igloo Books, working on adult non-fiction focusing on games, quizzes, journals and gift books. I have also provided editorial services for academic journals, including the Journal of International Arthurian Studies. I completed the Publishing Training Centre’s course on Editing Fiction in August 2019.

Alongside this I have also worked with a number of independent authors, primarily on fiction works but also on academic pieces. One of my authors made it to the final round of mentor selection for Pitch Wars 2018 and 2019 with two separate manuscripts.

Writing

During my time at Igloo Books I have written a wide range of non-fiction content, including books of creative prompts, guides for improving your mental health, fitness and healthy eating, pregnancy journals, and a wide variety of game products. This work was written to sit with pre-existing content, and matched the established tone. For my last big project, I was the author and lead editor for an entire murder mystery/escape room game, Escape The Murder Mansion, which is due for release in late 2020. This included writing the plot, the puzzles, and all the cover copy.

I have experience of writing for academic purposes, for social media, and for a variety of non-fiction audiences. I have also had several short stories published.
